The Kwale County Government has put in place a platform to have more of the female gender join secondary schools, collages, universities and technical institutions.
So far 84 girls have completed secondary education from national schools and 3,434 are still in school.
Speaking during a meeting with the Canadian, Agha Khan Foundation’s delegation that paid a courtesy call to her office, Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani said 65 girls have completed university through County’s sponsorship programme, while 498 others in different universities.
"1,555 are still pursuing different courses In our technical institutions and 3,526 are in collages," she said as she shared more on women empowerment on Tuesday.
She reiterated the need to have more input from stakeholders to empower the female gender.
"I am glad that Agha Khan foundation is ready to continue the partnership and extend it to women empowerment."
Achani said empowering a woman is empowering the society since they play a critical role in the communities.
