More than 1000 people including patients, caretakers nursing the sick and staff of the Garissa County Referral Hospital on Monday benefited from an exclusively free iftar program availed and administered by Garissa Muslim Youth Association.
The program which got into its fourth day on Monday largely relies on well-wishers and volunteers to brighten the lives of the needy persons during this Ramadhan period.
Garissa County Brand Ambassador Mr Abdikadir Aden who accompanied the youth volunteers on Monday appealed for more support from individuals regarding donations and finances.
“Any person who would wish to join the group can volunteer any day starting from 0500hrs. Let us join hands together and support them,” he appealed.
Anyone can donate foodstuffs like dates, packed juice, cookies, milk, fruits and drinking water among others by dropping them at a tent mounted next to the Maternity Ward Gardens at the Garissa County Referral Hospital.
