This has been confirmed by Governor Kenneth Lusaka.

According to the governor who was inspecting the facility on Wednesday, all the procurement equipment was working and that he expects the county to start exporting chicken to the foreign markets soon.

"This will help in the alleviation of poverty in Bungoma and other neighboring counties," he said.

"It is a project of its own kind in Kenya."

Lusaka challenged the residents to venture into chicken-rearing adding that the slaughterhouse will require at least 3,000 chicken daily.

"There are no more doubts again. Here in Bungoma, we just have to work," he added.

The arrival of the Chinese technicians on Wednesday to assemble the procured equipment means that the Chwele based slaughterhouse nears completion and it will be operational in the next couple of days.
