Hundreds of locals from Nyando Sub County have received free treatment courtesy of Biggy Foundation.
Children, women, the youth and even the old streamed in large numbers at Kanyang’oro mixed secondary school in East Kano Wawidhi Ward.
Kisumu County Director of Health Dr Ojwang Lusi who opened the camp said bringing health services closer to people is very important since most people lack access to health proper care.
Dr Lusi said medical camps catered for general diagnosis, dental treatment, family planning, HIV screening and other lifestyle diseases like cancer, high blood pressure etc.
“Those who will require referrals we will take them to other bigger hospitals like the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital for specialised care,” he said.
Dr Lusi thanked Biggy Foundation chairman Owino Ogendo for organising the free medical camp adding that it will go a long way to improve healthcare in Kisumu County.
He said that most people do not access healthcare easily adding that such philanthropist organisations should hold more of such camps to help locals.
Ogendo said he will be holding such free medical camps every year to give back to the community.
He thanked the Iranian government through the Iran medical clinic for their support. More than 10 doctors and nurses conducted the medical camp.
