A middle-aged woman is nursing injuries at Free Area estate in Nakuru at Njojoro hospital after she was allegedly battered by her husband.
The victim said that her husband attacked her for buying a 'touch screen' phone.
"I told him I bought a phone and showed him. He started beating me without asking me where I got money from" the woman said.
The woman found herself in hospital Wednesday morning after a blackout during the beating.
It is not yet clear why the man decided to beat up the woman but neighbors claimed the man was bitter that the wife had acquired a 'smart' phone and would use it to meet men on social media sites running on smartphones.
"The man was jealous about where the wife got money to buy the phone. He was heard saying that the woman wants to meet men on WhatsApp and facebook," a neighbor said.
