A 54-year-old man fought his wife aged 42 years over a phone message.
The incident happened at Bonyando village, Kisii South Sub County on Monday.
Neighbors said the man identified as John Machoni attacked and injured his wife, Philomena, after he found love messages on her phone.
"Machoni was angered when he found love messages written to his wife in her mobile phone. When he questioned her why he was being seduced yet she is married, the woman rudely abused him prompting to the attack,” said Hellen Ongeri, a neighbor.
Ms Ongeri said Philomena is a tomato vendor and she might have gotten into an illicit love affair with the man who was sending her the messages.
The husband told Hivisasa that he beat his wife because he wants him to be a faithful woman.
"I have realised that the only way I will make my relationship better is by closing the business that I started for her," he said.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Edwin Ondoro said the woman reported her husband to them and they summoned them to appear in their office on Thursday.
"The woman has already askes for forgiveness but the man is not ready to listen to her. We shall try all it takes to ensure that all goes well," he said.
