Speaking during a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Wetangula insisted that he did not lobby to become the minority leader.  He noted that the leaders who have been launching endless attacks on him will not give him sleepless nights.

"I am not embattled in any way. I am at peace. There is nothing to discuss. I did not bargain to be the minority leader” he said.

The senator also said that he will not participate in the planned opposition leaders’ retreat. The meeting was supposed to be attended by ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The ejection of Wetangula from office has caused a storm in the alliance with the trio accusing ODM leaders of bullying other affiliate parties.  Wetangula had earlier warned ODM leaders against pushing for his dismissal, saying it will be noisy and messy.
