He also noted that he is not a coward politician as most people widely claim and is ready now to lead street demos since Raila is now a 'president'.

Kalonzo was speaking at the Orange Democratic Movement National Delegates Meeting in Nairobi.

Kalonzo has been under fire from opposition supporters after he failed to show up at Raila Odinga's controversial swearing in.

On January 30 Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has finally subscribed to the name 'Watermelon.' Kalonzo, who is among the co-principals in Opposition revealed that he actually loves the name, 'Watermelon', a nickname associated with him.

Speaking at the Orange Democratic Movement National Delegates Meeting held in Nairobi on Friday, February 23, Kalonzo said he has already started enjoying the name.

The Wiper Party leader held that Watermelon is actually a beautiful fruit.

“I am beginning to enjoy this watermelon thing, that Kalonzo is a dancing watermelon, it is a beautiful fruit. I will tell you the truth today, the person who gave me the name watermelon is my brother Raila,” Kalonzo said.

Fighting off incessant claims that he is a coward, Kalonzo said he does not fear anything, or anyone as most people think. “Don’t ever think Kalonzo is a fool, because I have never been, neither have I ever been a coward, never! When you go out there and begin to shout watermelon,” the Wiper Party leader told the cheering delegates.

The politician reiterated that he has never been a coward and will never be one, insisting that he is more than ready to lead street demos since Raila Odinga is now the 'president'.

“I want to suggest here a little change of tact, now that we have President Raila Amollo Odinga, you will not expect the President to go to the streets. I am volunteering to move into the charge until we move this country, taking an oath is not an issue at all, we are talking serious business,” Musyoka stated.

Kalonzo's statement came years after Kenyans started calling him a watermelon.

Kenyans have been referring to Kalonzo as a Watermelon since 2010.

This is after the former VP openly supported the draft constitution in the campaign but allegedly opposed it in secret, a move that made many people to compare him to a watermelon a fruit which is naturally 'unripe' outside but red ripe inside.
