Garissa County governor Nathif Jama has said that his county government is committed in the fight to promote education which is widespread in the county.

The governor said that the county was marginalised for long by the national government and thanked the new devolution where resources can now reach the local residents easily.

"I will ensure that the children of Garissa are given equal opportunities in learning. We need them to excel in life too," the governor said during a function held in Garissa town.

Jama added that he is ready to work with the national government to end the insecurity incidences which have been witnessed in the county.

"Many teachers fear to work in Garissa due to insecurity by terror groups. We are working with the national government to eliminate criminals," stated Jama.
