Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has exuded confidence that the High court will quash a petition challenging his re-election in last year's polls.
Speaking to journalists at his office on Thursday, Mutua said that he is hopeful that the petition challenging his re-election filed by former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti will be dismissed today.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap governor asked his supporters and Machakos residents not to worry, stating that victory will be on their side.
"Machakos people re-elected me as their governor on August 8, last year and I want to assure them that I will remain their governor after the today's ruling," Mutua said.
Mutua said he was not afraid of the ruling, noting that Wavnya's petition lacked basis and merit.
Machakos High Court judge Aggrey Muchelelu will make the ruling anytime from now today.
Machakos residents will go back to election in case Mutua's re-election is nullified.
On Thursday, Wavinya Ndeti also expressed confidence that the court will rule in her favor.
The Wiper politician asked her supporters to remain calm ahead of the ruling that could twist political direction in Machakos.
Opposition top leaders who are backing Wavinya Ndeti are expected to attend the ruling session.
