Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has said that he has what it takes to be the Nakuru County governor, and said that he will not hesitate to grab the opportunity should county residents ask him to be the county chief.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Monday, Gikaria, who has always been at logger heads with Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, said that for now, he will concentrate on his duties as an MP and will decide about the governorship when the right time comes.
Gikaria said that he has performed his duties diligently, adding that he will continue to fight for the rights of the people who elected him.
“People are talking about Gikaria being interested in the governor’s position, but I want to tell them that am equally qualified for the position, and if the people of Nakuru County give me that job, I will not hesitate to take it up,” said Gikaria.
“My focus now is on serving the people of Nakuru East and when time for that other position comes, the people of Nakuru will speak,” added Gikaria.
He however said that he does not have any personal differences with Governor Mbugua, saying that their differences are just ideological.
“When we differ about is how things are done, and it does not mean that we are enemies, I have nothing personal against Governor Mbugua,” he said.
