Deputy President William Ruto has hailed the union of former Meru Governor Peter Munya and the incumbent Kiraitu Murungi.

Speaking at a rally in Meru county Friday, the DP expressed his pleasure saying that it has left him off the hook after Munya, just before the August polls, accused him of funding Murungi to dethrone him in a bid to paralyze his (Munya) presidential bid in 2022, a position Ruto is also keenly watching.

''I am the happiest about the union of these two leaders because I was being accused of playing a role in their enmity,'' said the DP.

The rally which was also attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta saw Munya and Murungi bury the hatchet vowing to work hand in hand in ensuring that Kenyatta retains his position in the forthcoming presidential elections.

The leaders present also took a swipe at the rival NASA alliance with Ruto accusing the alliance's flag bearer Raila Odinga of dictatorship, terming him as unsuitable for the post and therefore urging Kenyans to fully back President Kenyatta.

''Raila Odinga is against everyone and everything with regards to the coming elections. He dislikes the elections commission, the firms tendering with ensuring that the election is successful and everybody else.Such a person is not a democrat but a dictator who should not be allowed anywhere near power,'' he said.
