Muthama instead says that he is in Wiper Party to stay.

Speaking to journalists after attending a church service at Makaveti Catholic Chruch in Machakos on Sunday, Muthama said that his aim is to unite Cord co-principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Muthama stated that unity of the coalition is what matters to him now.

“I am in Wiper to stay and am keen to ensure the unity of Cord co-principals as we approach the 2017 elections,” he told journalists on Sunday as reported by the Nation.

According to the Nation,  Muthama said that unity of the coalition is what will send Jubilee government home in next year’s elections.

The Machakos senator, however, said that small Ukambani political parties must fold up and join Wiper.

Muthama said that folding of the parties will strengthen unity of the region,

He asked Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana to fold up his Muungano party and be part of Wiper.

He also asked Governor Alfred Mutua and former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to fold their Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Party and Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) respectively and work with Wiper.

Muthama said that Ukambani will be united if politicians in the region work together.

He said that formation of tribal political parties was the main reason for divisions.

Two weeks ago during a rally at Sultan Hamud, Kalonzo allegedly gave Muthama a public dress down accusing him of allegedly fueling divisions in Wiper.

Kalonzo further accused Muthama of allegedly sabotaging his 2017 presidential bid.

The Wiper leader claimed that Muthama was working with his Siaya counterpart James Orengo to deny him chance of being endorsed as Cord 2017 presidential flag bearer.

The alleged fall out between  Kalonzo and Muthama saw the Machakos senator skip a national executive council meeting convened by Wiper in Nairobi last week.

Muthama skipped the Wiper meeting but attended a press briefing by Cord management committee.

Wiper secretary general Hassan Omar accused the media of fueling speculations of a fall out between Kalonzo and Muthama.
