Former Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo, has cited the chaotic primaries in Jubilee as the reason why he will offer his candidature to KANU.

In a tweet to his social media followers on Saturday, Kimaiyo, who is vying for Elgeyo Marakwet senator, wrote " It has come to pass that there will be no free and fair nominations in Jubilee Party, KANU is the best party of choice for my Senatorial bid.

This comes after he predicted in January that the Jubilee party nominations would be chaotic. He wrote then, "There will be no fair and free nominations in Jubilee party. Very soon I will unveil my Elgeyo Marakwet..."

Kimaiyo is seeking to unseat vocal Jubilee senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

Jubilee party primaries were marred by irregularity and confusion, a move that led President Uhuru Kenyatta to cancel the whole exercise. He cited major under preparedness as the reason why Jubilee was caught flat-footed by the huge turn-out of voters.
