National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi has disowned a move by Jubilee MPs to change electoral laws.

Muturi said he is neutral and cannot comment on whether the changes are good or bad for the country.

He said the Speaker of the House has no vote.

"I approved the amendments because They are in compliance with the constitution, the law and standing orders", said Muturi.

Muturi added that his work is only to facilitate members who would like to make proposals to make, amend or repeal laws.

"If I comment on the laws, I will be assuming the legislative role," he said.

He commended the previous 11th Parliament on grounds that the MPs conducted themselves well.

Jubilee MPs are pushing for the changes in Elections Laws (Amendment) Bill  for results to be transmitted manually and not the current electronic system.

The changes will also see the powers of the IEBC chair and the Supreme Court reduced.

NASA MPs have opposed the changes and urged  Kenyans to reject the election law changes.
