Addressing crowds at Muthetheni trading centre in Mwala on Friday morning, Mutua maintained that he will not be distracted from his duties.

He alleged that there is a plot among some county leaders to derail development in Machakos.

“I will not be distracted from doing my work by some people who are keen to bring me down,” he said.

Mutua stated that his vision is to see Machakos people get quality and affordable services, and urged those with questions on the county activities to use the right channels.

He said that Machakos will not be turned into a battle field, and asked all leaders to respect the people.

“We must respect the people who elected us and serve them diligently,” he said.

The Machakos boss intimated that he has no personal differences with leaders in the region, but asked them to respect themselves if they want to be respected.

On Wednesday, Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala said that his relationship with Mutua is mutual, noting that despite confrontations with Mutua, they enjoy good relations and are keen to spearhead development.

Kiala however asked the county to respect all leaders and engage them in matters that touch on the people.
