Kitui senator David Musila has strongly refuted claims that he is a spy working for Jubilee Party while in Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party.

Musila states that he is a mole in Wiper are malicious saying that those fueling the speculations want to tarnish his relationship with Kalonzo.

Addressing supporters at Nuu market in Mwingi Central on Wednesday, Musila said that his relationship with some Wiper rebels who ditched Kalonzo’s Party last year should not be interpreted to mean that he is spying for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party.

The Kitui senator claims that his rivals are spreading speculations of him planning to cross over to Jubilee Party.

“I am not spying for Jubilee as being claimed by some of my rivals,” he said on Wednesday as quoted by the Star.

The senator added that he is in Wiper and that his position in the party cannot be compromised.

He accused rivals of running smear campaigns with the aim of making him fall out with Wiper party members and officials.

Musila has been publicly seen with Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu and Mwingi North Counterpart John Munuve at several meetings hence speculations that he might quit Kalonzo’s party.

Mutambu and Munuve are among some Wiper party members who ditched Kalonzo’s Party and joined Jubilee Party.

The rebels are said to be luring Musila out of the Kalonzo party after speculations emerged that Kalonzo has endorsed Kitui governor Julius Malombe for a second term.

Mutambu has been asking Musila to quit Wiper if he wants to be on the ballot in the August polls.

Musila is eyeing to unseat governor Malombe in the August 8 general election.

He however claims that Kalonzo has endorsed Malombe’s re-election, claims that the Wiper leader has refuted.

Malombe, on the other hand, is accusing Musila of allegedly working with rebels to undermine Kalonzo’s presidential bid in the National Super Alliance (NASA).
