National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga has said that he was not a madman to accept to dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This was after the burial ceremony he attended in Mosocho, Kisii County that he came out equivocally and gave reasons for the surprise meeting with Uhuru.
He said how painful it was to have a handshake even at the steps of Harambee House. At first, he felt sceptical but later on, he realised that the President meant well for it.
“There were lots of suspicions but we had to keep on talking because the peace was about future generations,” he said
He said that the fight for justice is still intact only that it will be fought by Kenyans as a whole.
He said, "the promised land" he has been talking about, is not compromised by his stance. Only that Kenyans as a whole will reach the promised land.
Raila told his supporters that he is not a mad man and he made the decision for the good of his country. The dialogue was meant for the reincarnation of peace after a seven month of terror and killings of the anti-government protesters.
“We agreed that we must build one peaceful nation. That is why I agreed to sit with President Uhuru on behalf of millions of the Kenyans I represent. I am not a madman. All I want is to end the injustices that have eroded this country,” he said.
At Kondele, he was remorseful for the killings of innocent Kenyans in the demonstrations. He recognised the death of baby Samantha, baby Pendo and others.
Odinga also mentioned that the passports of his NASA supporters have been returned and soon Lawyer Miguna Miguna will be back.
“We want to mop up the blood that was shed during the protests. We want to correct what went wrong,” he said.
He revealed his plans to bring Uhuru to Nyanza region only if his supporters allowed him to. This was aimed at clearing the political differences in the region.
“If you allow me, I will bring Uhuru here so that we can affirm the peace pact,” he said.
