Governor William Kabogo has rubbished claims that he is afraid of competitors eyeing to unseat him in next year’s general election.
Kabogo says that he is not afraid of any competitor who has declared interest in the gubernatorial seat.
Speaking to locals during a meet the people tour in Gatundu South on Wednesday, Kabogo said that he is confident of being elected for a second term.
The Kiambu governor said that those claiming that he is afraid of competition are only speculating.
“It is ridiculous for some people to claim that I am afraid of competition, what competition? I am ready to square it out with anyone,” said the Kiambu governor.
Kabogo said that aspirants are free to declare their interest in any seat adding that locals will decide on who they want come August next year.
Kabogo said that he is confident of being nominated to run on a Jubilee Party ticket next year.
He said that his government is keen to complete the development it has started before the 2017 polls.
At the same time Kabogo urged locals to refrain from politicians who he said are being led by malice.
Kabogo claimed that some politicians eyeing seats in the county are engaging in propaganda and backbiting campaigns which he said is harmful to democracy.
Several aspirants have declared interest to unseat Kabogo in 2017.
The aspirants among the Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu have vowed to send Kabogo packing in 2017.
On Wednesday real estate tycoon David Gakuyo officially announced his bid for the Kiambu top seat promising to give Kabogo and others a run for their money.
Gakuyo said that he is ready to square it out with other competitors adding that locals are the final people who will decide on who they want to be their next governor come next year.
