Machakos senator Johnson Muthama has refuted claims that he is against Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Muthama further refutes claims that he prefers Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga to be NASA’s flag bearer in the August 8 polls.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Wiper National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at Party headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, Muthama said that he supports Kalonzo’s bid.

He accused the media of ‘cocking’ up issues with the intensions to create rifts between him and Kalonzo.

“I support Kalonzo’s presidential bid and claims that I am against him are only meant to create rifts between us,” he added as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Muthama has been on the spot with a section of Wiper party members accusing of undermining Kalonzo’s presidential bid in NASA.

During the burial of the late Kwale senator Boy Juma Boy two weeks ago, Muthama claimed that the late senator had wished to see Raila fly NASA’s flag in the August election.

Muthama further claimed that the late senator had asked him to do everything to make sure that Raila is the opposition’s flag bearer.

Muthama’s statement at the burial is said to have angered Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other party officials.

The Machakos senator has also rubbed shoulders with Kalonzo severally.

Last year, Kalonzo accused Muthama of allegedly undermining his bid and forcing smaller political parties in Ukambani to fold up and join Wiper.

The cracks in Wiper seems unending with political analysts predicting massive walkouts in the Kalonzo’s party.

Already there are speculations that Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar could be on his way out of the party.

Wiper is among parties under the NASA umbrella with its party leader lobbying to be endorsed as the Alliance flag bearer in the August polls.
