Despite political rivalry between him and opposition leader Raila Odinga, President Uhuru Kenyatta maintains that he is not at war with his competitors.

In a typical rematch of 2013 polls where he narrowly won, Uhuru is set to face Mr Odinga who was unveiled as opposition flag bearer a month ago.

Both candidates have been cleared by Independent electoral and Boundaries Commission and have promised earthquake campaigns ahead of August.

“I am not at war with anybody leave alone Odinga,” said Kenyatta during a rally at Nairobi’s CBD after presentation of his papers to the electoral body.

He added: “We should compete ideologically and not by spreading propaganda. It does not change the lives of ordinary people.”

On Sunday, a highly charged Odinga warned of a mother of all battles in August, accusing Jubilee administration of unfulfilled promises.
