The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has refuted claims that he is the only viable candidate to face President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This declaration comes after verbal exchange about the flag bearer threatened to break Cord. The Wiper leader was cooling down the tension that has forced the opposition coalition to retreat for the sake of sorting out differences.
Speaking to the Star, the former Vice President gave hope to Cord supporters who are worried about a potential fallout. There were suggestions that Kalonzo could ditch Cord due to ODM's campaigns marshaled by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Wetangula also opposed Raila's bid to contest. “We cannot speak in absolute terms that Kalonzo has to be on the ballot. But if Kalonzo is the solution to deal with Jubilee's incompetence, then we can also explore that route,” Musyoka said.
The Ukambani kingpin also confirmed that Cord's unity is still strong and will send Jubilee home come 2017. Kalonzo said that nothing will split the coalition.
“Cord has shown clearly that we are together. These are the last moments for Jubilee. People should not be worried because we are together. We will stick together and nobody will put us apart,” Kalonzo said.
