Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto says he will have no business to cling to power should he lose to his main rival Joyce Laboso.
While Rutto support election of NASA leader Raila Odinga, Laboso, a Sotik MP is running President Uhuru Kenyatta’s South Rift campaigns.
Speaking on Monday in Bomet, Rutto challenged his competitor to also concede defeat should he beat her.
”Politics is not a matter of life and death as opposed to what many of us think. We should embrace smooth transition regardless of the outcome.
“All of us should be ready to concede defeat in elections. We cannot allow people to fight just because of an election outcome,” he added.
Having been appointed the NASA fifth principal, Rutto’s CCM party has been allocated Deputy Premier Position should NASA win.
However, it is not clear whether he will resign as governor should he reelected if NASA coalition takes over in August.
