Opposition leader Raila Odinga insists that he is not desperate to be president but is keen to have electoral systems reformed to enable the country hold credible polls in future.
Odinga has warned of a possible mass protest should the Senate fail to shoot down controversial election amendment laws that were passed by the National Assembly last week.
On Tuesday, Raila said he would concede defeat if the IEBC holds a free, fair and verifiable polls in 2017.
“I am not desperate to win an election as some of you people think. We are trying to put a system that can be trusted by all Kenyans even in future,” he said.
“I will concede defeat in free, fair and credible elections. We all want our country to progress and we cannot allow some few elements to drag us behind when we are busy streamlining our institutions,” he added.
He said mass action would be the last resort should the state remain stubborn in reversing the controversial laws.
