Moi also warned that using proxies to rally for votes in Rift Valley could hinder President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

Speaking on Monday during the burial of former nominated MP Mark Too, Moi said he was only interested in pushing for economic development in the country.

“I have heard some people saying that I am dividing the Kalenjin people and that is sheer nonsense. I always stand with Kenyans on the real issues our people face on a daily basis,” said Moi.

“There are a lot of votes in Rift Valley and the president should face people directly instead of using proxies. He should have a direct touch with people here,” said Moi.

Moi, a son of retired president Daniel Arap Moi, has been having strained relationship with Deputy President William Ruto in what has been interpreted as political supremacy battles.
