Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mong’are has vehemently denied claims that he will be running for gubernatorial seat in 2017 polls.

This comes after a number of social media users trolled him online accusing him of lacking a ‘sense’ of well-being after rumour circulated of his intention to switch to gubernatorial seat.

In a message posted on his what sap official group, Mong’are said he had ‘no intention’ to go for the seat, and maintained his satisfaction with senatorial roles.

“I have read with dismay people linking me to gubernatorial seat and I want to stare herein without fear of contradiction that I am happy with my obligations as a senator,” read the statement.

“Nyamira people trusted me and gave me the job which I believe I am doing my best to serve them. I have no intention to switch to other seats and those propelling the rumour should be ashamed. I am in senatorial race to stay,” added the statement.

He also hit on critics labeling him as a circumstantial winner of 2013 polls as a result of names confusion since his name resembled Counsel Okong’o Mogeni.

“I have also seen posts that I won based on name confusion. That is not true because I worked hard before being elected by the people,” he said.

He defended his records saying his mandate of legislation, oversight and representation was well taken care of.

“I was elected to legislate, oversight and represent my people. That is exactly what I am doing. My work is not coming to villages to make roads as some say,” he said.
