The court had on February, 27 ordered Maalim to pay the electoral body and Duale Ksh 6 Million as part of the election costs after losing an election petition against Duale's win.

"Of course Mr speaker I will not follow my KSh 6 million and I have even instructed my lead counsel Ahmednasir that IEBC can follow, but we shall not follow," Duale said.

Duale went on and said he actually sympathised with his friends paying such huge amounts and confessed that it was going to be a tough week for him as he was set to hold several fund-raisers to aid them to raise the amount needed from them to pay.

" This week will be very hard for me because I have very many fund-raisers to attend," Duale said, much to the delight of fellow legislators.

On his ruling Hedwig On'gudi, a High Court Judge said that the election was conducted in accordance with the laid down electoral laws and the Constitution.

"There were no irregularities that can annul the election. The respondent was validly elected as a member of parliament for Garissa Township," the judge ruled.

Farah Maalim on his part had said that he respected the decision and that he would move to the Court of Appeal which he has since done.

"I respect the judgment, but they could be wrong. I will prove that they are wrong in the Court of Appeal," he said shortly after the Court's delivered its verdict on his petition.

Time will, however, tell if Duale will organise such fundraisers.
