Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has said that he has no interest in the county gubernatorial seat and that he will defend his senatorial seat in 2017 general elections.

Muthama denied claims that he will be vying for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, Muthama said that he has no interest in any other seat apart from the senatorial seat to which he currently holds.

“Machakos people want me to continue serving as their senator and I will be seeking their support in 2017,” he said.

Muthama said that his agenda is to promote and defend for the rights and welfare of Machakos people and Kenyans at large.

The vocal Machakos senator at the same time defended the recommendations made by the Joint Select Committee on IEBC saying that it the proposals, if adopted will address the issues that have been surrounding the electoral body.

The senator asked Parliament and the senate to urgently debate on the proposals and pass the recommendations for the interest of Kenyans.
