Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has dismissed claims by critics that he is a political sycophant.
Mutua says that he does not depend on anyone to survive politically and the claims by his rivals are malicious.
Speaking on Citizen TV CheChe Show on Wednesday morning, Mutua accused his critics of using propaganda to fight him.
“It is ridiculous for people like senator Muthama and others to claim that I am a sycophant,” he said.
Mutua claimed that senator Muthama is fighting to have him not re-elected in 2017.
Mutua observed that senator Muthama was opposed to his leadership even before he joined politics.
“Muthama in 2013 threatened to resign if I was elected as Machakos governor which he has not done and is keen to ensure that I am not re-elected in 2017,” he added.
Governor Mutua said that his development record in Machakos has made him an enemy to his critics.
The Machakos governor, however, vowed not to be intimidated by critics.
“My focus is to deliver services to Machakos people and I will not waste time listening to critics,” he said.
Governor Mutua and Muthama are not seeing each other Eye to eye due to their different political ideologies.
A section of leaders in the county has been urging the two leaders to shelve their differences for the sake of development.
