Nominee for the Uasin Gishu County executive committee member in charge of the education department has dismissed claims that he is related to Governor Jackson Mandago.
Speaking when he appeared before the Assembly's Committee on Appointment for vetting, Joseph Kurgat, a former High School Principal said he applied for the position like any other candidate.
"I want to categorically state that I am not in any way related to governor Mandago, maybe that's something that has been in the air but it is not the truth," said Kurgat.
"As far as I am concerned, I applied for this position and I want to believe that the governor went through my credentials and decided I was the best person to be in charge of this docket," he added.
Kurgat has worked as a teacher for the past 23 and he resigned as the Uasin Gishu Secondary school Principle in February this year to vie for the Turbo parliamentary seat but he was unsuccessful.
Vetting for the CeC nominees continues Wednesday with Samuel Yego (Agriculture), Esther Mutai (Cooperatives), Barnabas Tarus (Devolution) and Dr. Emily Kogos (ICT and Trade) expected to appear before the vetting committee which is chaired by Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat.
