The gubernatorial race has attracted top candidates led by Charles Mochama, former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, retired justice Anasi Onyancha and the latest entry of West Mugirango MP James Gesami.

But the media shy Nyagarama on Wednesday through a phone interview said he was less bothered with the challenge he is facing from the opponents, some of whom are his close allies.

"I am not scared at all with my opponents. They are exercising their democratic right and I have no powers to prevent them from announcing their candidature,” he said.

“It’s not a bother I assure you. Let them come to the field and we look for votes. Nyamira people will make the ultimate decision on whom they want to govern them and I know I will retain my seat,” he added.

He said he will not be detracted by his opponents and insisted that he will continue working with people till official campaign period start.

“I am not in a hurry and those running up and down let them do so. When the right time comes, I will get to ground and campaign but for now, I am focused to make Nyamira better for all. After all my opponents have nothing new but just dwelling on propaganda,” he added.
