Kisii Governor James Ongwae has yet again slammed his critics as myopic and insisted that they had nothing ‘new’ to offer to area residents.
Ongwae has been facing constant critics from a group of rebels opposed to his administration led by his Deputy Joash Maangi and Senator Chris Obure.
Speaking at Itibo on Sunday, Ongwae defended his development record and accused his critics of engaging in a political battle with him since he was not ready to ‘dance’ to their tunes.
“In politics, you don’t fear anyone and I am also ready to take on those who are ready. In the recent past, some people have been daring me but I want to insist that they have nothing new to offer to our people,” he said.
“Kisii people need clean water, good roads, improved agricultural potential and clean environment something that I have already done. We also need transparency and accountability and simply because I cannot dance to your tunes, you cannot intimidate me,” he added.
Ongwae also accused his opponents of allegedly having a ‘bad’ reputation and maintained that his record will earn him the second term.
“Some of my opponents have been in power holding high positions but have done little to uplift the living standards of our people. The little period I have been in the system people have liked my way of doing things. It’s absurd that I am being fought just because of my political stand,” he said.
