The Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero on Sunday said he is ready to submit to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) orders to be investigated for corruption allegations.
The governor is alleged to have received some money amounting to sh370 million in one of his accounts while the other account received sh200 million. The EACC wanted to investigate his accounts together with those of his wife, Susan Mboya. Kidero then went to court to stop the investigations saying the EACC had not stated their motives as to why they wanted to carry out the exercise. He accused EACC of carrying out duties unprofessionally and unconstitutional. The court ruled in his favour and barred EACC from conducting the investigations.
Addressing the media on Sunday in Kibera, Kidero said he had no problem being investigated but the commission must specify the period of time they need to investigate his accounts and those of his wife.
‘’Let them say what time they think I was corrupt so that they can carry out investigations of the stated period. They cannot say they will investigate my accounts since they were opened way back in 1980’s,’’ he said.
