Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto says he will trounce any Jubilee candidate in the gubernatorial race.
The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) leader said his move to the National Super Alliance (Nasa) had boosted his re-election chance.
“Joining NASA was a political decision I took without any regrets. CCM supporters and the Kipsigis community at large are fully behind me,” said the NASA principal on Monday.
Governor Ruto will face either the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso, Dr Julius Kones or Bomet Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai, who are fighting for the Jubilee Party ticket.
However, the recent opinion polls revealed that Ruto and Laboso were neck-and-neck in the race for governorship.
The polls said Ruto had 39 per cent support with Laboso has 38 per cent.
The race for Bomet County governor is expected to be among the hottest ahead of August 8.
