Leader of Majority in National Assembly Aden Duale has said the government is shielding certain traders in the ongoing war against contraband sugar.
Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, Duale named several companies which are allegedly involved in the illicit business of smuggling sugar into the country.
“I want to tell Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to go for the real bulldogs in this war. I have named warehouses in Nakuru where millions of bags of sugar are hidden, others in Ndhiwa, Mombasa among other places. Why are they not acting on those areas?” Duale posed.
The vocal Garissa Town MP said he is ready to lose his position as Majority Leader over his stand on the issue of crackdown on sugar smugglers.
Duale, apparently, knows there will be political implications within Jubilee over his stand.
