Speaking in a local radio station, Chelule said she has listened to the Nakuru populace who has asked her to run for the post.

"According to the constitution, a senator is above the Woman Rep. However, after consulting widely from my electorate, I've concluded that I'll run for the Woman Rep post who told me they have been represented by the incumbent," Chelule said.

"The people of Nakuru are facing the challenge of representation. The current Woman Rep and Senator have failed to discharge their duties and I've decided I'm the person to fill in one of the gap," she said.

There have been a lot of criticism from Nakuru Town East lawmaker David Gikaria who accused senator James Mungai and the Woman Rep Mary Mbugua of absence from the county in key meetings including Presidential visits early this year.

Gikaria has went ahead and endorsed Chelule to run for Woman Rep. However, Mrs Mbugua has said she will defend her seat in the next general election.
