Opposition leader Raila Odinga says his advanced age should not be a reason why Kenyans cannot vote for him adding that he is older and wiser than his competitors.

Odinga, 71, who has had three unsuccessful attempts to clinch presidency, stands at pole position to be NASA’s flag bearer in August.

In numerous occasions, Jubilee leadership under President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for his retirement from active politics.

And on Saturday, Odinga slammed his challengers and urged them to face him on policies rather than ‘archaic thinking of age’.

“Age is just a number in leadership. I can be older but wiser upstairs. My competitors could be young age wise but still blunt in making decisions,” he told his supporters at Kakuma.

The ODM leader further said: “They have squandered our money and the economy is at its low. Prices of basic commodities are ceiling and corruption is the order of the day.’

Further, Odinga questioned Kenyatta’s commitment to handle to escalating hunger and water crisis in the North, adding that the region had been marginalized by Jubilee government.

“We have serious hunger and water problems here. All they do is using resources to campaign instead of helping people. They must go home,” he added.

He is on a three days tour to Turkana County which culminates on Sunday.
