Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has said he would never work under a government led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka. He said it would even be worse if Joho is governor in the same administration.Omar on September 7 resigned as Wiper secretary general citing “deep rooted” reasons and his inability to carry on following his election loss.“I told Raila and Kalonzo I do not want to serve in their government because my assumption in serving in their government is that Joho would be governor of Mombasa,” he said at a press conference on Mombasa on Monday.“I told Raila then, I am telling him now, it is not tenable for us to have a government where somebody comes through the back door and leaves through the front door or the window. We cannot have Raila and Joho leading executive arms of government at the same time.”In a letter to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, Omar said he informed NASA before the election that he would not be a member of the opposition coalition if he lost.“That was not rhetoric. It is still the case. As such it is unlikely that I will play any part in your October 17 presidential quest but nonetheless I wish you all the best,” Omar said in the letter. He noted the resignation notice was the most difficult letter he has written in a long time, adding that he needs to re-organise himself. He added: “The Wiper party leadership is weak, it’s unfocused, it’s fluid and you wouldn’t know whether Kalonzo is supporting Joho. You wouldn’t know what he stands for.”Governor Hassan Joho (ODM) trounced the former Senator in the August 8 vote to retain his seat. Others who vied were Jubilee Party’s Suleiman Shahbal and former Nyali MP Hezron Awiti.
