Nominated Nairobi senator Millicent Omanga has turned down deputizing Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Omanga said she is comfortable in her current position despite being qualified to deputize Sonko.
This is after Nairobi county boss took to social media to ask Nairobians to help him choose a deputy for him.
The nominated Senator was among a list of motley personalities but turned down the offer.
“I happen to be among the individuals the governor feels convinced can deputize him. I wish to thank the governor for the faith in me and all those who suggested my name to him for the said position,” Stated the nominated Senator.
She however stated that she is comfortable in her current position at the Senate for the next 5 years.
“Notwithstanding I would wish to clarify, and hereby do vide this statement, that I’m comfortable serving Kenyans in my current capacity as a nominated Senator in the Senate of Kenya for the next five years,” Said Omanga.
She however urged the governor to find a young person for the seat.
“The bulk of votes Sonko got were from young people. More than 70% of Nairobi population is youth. He therefore needs a young Deputy Governor to inject vibrancy, freshness and innovativeness as he steers Nairobi to greatness,” further Stated the senator.
