Nominated Senator Emma Mbura has revealed that she chose Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap Party over NASA to avoid propaganda by her opponents.
According to the Star, her move was influenced by President Kenyatta and her fear of pro-Jubilee propagandists who were ready to soil her name if she joined the opposition.
The senator also blamed Deputy President William Ruto and Kilifi North’s MP Gideon Mung’aro for frustrating her bid for Rabai MP seat.
“They thought I would go to NASA so they can finish me [off] with propaganda. But they are all now surprised. I will still beat them,” said Mbura as quoted by the Star.
The TNA nominee to the Senate complained that she would be denied the Jubilee ticket regardless of nomination outcome. Efforts by President Kenyatta to change her mind were futile thus he (Uhuru) opted for Chap Chap to avoid beafing up NASA with a close ally.
Maura wrote to Uhuru thanking him for believing in her and personal mentorship.
“It is out of this belief that you noticed my leadership capacity as a strong community mobiliser and personally took my hand to mentor me, mould me and build my leadership capacity to national status by nominating me to the Senate Assembly of Kenya to champion the interests of women in this country,” read part of Mbura appreciation.
