The Kitutu Chache South Mp Richard Onyonka has come out and defended himself against the accusation of betraying the Gusii people when they were demonstrating against IEBC yesterday at Kisii town lead by Ababu Namwamba.
Speaking to the reporter, Onyonka said that he purposely come for a parliamentary budget public participation forum and not to demonstrate against IEBC.
“I did not come to demonstrate in Kisii town and there is no way I was to evade the parliamentary budget public participation forum like my colleague Ababu Namwamba," said Onyonka.
"We are bounded by the parliamentary standing orders and we were on duty so there is no way I was to leave the chairman there and starting demonstrating that is not in order, ” Onyonka said.
“However, I feel that Cord should at times look for a better way of handling the issues not demonstrating since there will be a destruction of property and people getting injured there is parliament let the rule of law be followed on some issues," he said.
“You cannot wake up one day and decide that you want to remove Onyonka as a Mp and start demonstrating that will not work procedures have to be followed and that is why we are bound and governed by the law,” he added.
Richard Onyonka is rumored to have ditched Cord in favor of Jubilee saying that he needs to work with the government for the benefit of the people.
