Mr Momanyi who spoke to this reporter in an interview on Saturday denied involvement in disruption of the funeral as alleged by leading Politicians led by Sonko Rogena, his main competitor.

“It is not right for someone to say I interrupted the funeral yet I was only a visiting MP. The funeral was at the border and North Mugirango MP Charles Geni was in charge so that’s not true,” he said.

"I was in a different constituency and it would have been meaningless to hijack the program because there is no gain at all. They wanted me to speak because I do not play such politics."

Mr Momanyi condemned the premature disruption of the funeral event and challenged all leaders who attended to give an official apology to the bereaved family.

“It was one of the most chaotic funerals I have ever attended and someone has to take responsibility. All leaders who attended owe the family an apology. We must respect the dead always but let people know that I had no reason to hire goons to disrupt a funeral of our mentor,” he said.
