Former Kitui Senator David Musila has dismissed claims that he crossed over to Jubilee ahead of the rerun.

Musila maintained that he is only supporting the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto ahead of their fresh battle against National Super Alliance(NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga, who is taking a fourth stab at the nation’s top seat.

The senator has assured the head of state that he will deliver the Kamba vote to his party when that time comes.

“My supporters should note that I didn’t join Jubilee, I’m only supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election,“ he said as quoted by Kituionline.com.

Musila and other leaders of Ukambani backing the re-election of President Uhuru are seeking to counter the strong influence of the opposition in the region. The sentiments of the former senator come at a time when the nation has been left in political uncertainty following the decision of Raila to withdraw his candidature from the October 26th polls.

Raila argues that there is no reason to take part in an election where you are sure of a loss. He has insisted that he will only take part in the exercise if he is assured it will be free and fair.
