Marakwet East Member of Parliament Bowen Kangogo has defended the manner in which the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) conducted the August 8 poll in which he was declared the winner.
While appearing as a witness before Eldoret High Court in a petition challenging his win on Wednesday, Kangogo dismissed claims that he was behind shootings witnessed at the Chesoi trading center near Constituency Tallying center at Sambirir girls before the final declaration of the Parliamentary results.
Petitioner Sammy Kemboi had claimed that the MP, who is the third respondent planned the incident and took advantage of it to introduce 'foreign' form 34A's which were later used to declare him as the winner.
"I had nothing to do with that incident and when gunshots where heard everybody in the tallying hall lied down and there is no way forms could have been changed," Kangogo said during cross-examination by the petitioner's lawyer Dennis Magare.
The MP was the last witness to testify before the court after the petitioner's three witnesses took the stand on Monday and IEBC Constituency returning officer as well as his deputy testified on Tuesday.
The matter will be now be mentioned on December 14 for further directions after the report on the ongoing vote recount in four polling stations and partial scrutiny of election materials in 14 other polling stations is submitted in court.
