Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses have been great friends for years.

According to Wetangula, he met the former vice president in 1985 and he requested him to help him raise some cash to fund his campaign.

“I first met him in 1985 when he wrote to me to ask for a donation for his by-election campaign. I donated Sh 500, which was a lot of money then,” Mr Wetang’ula revealed on Tuesday evening during the black-tie dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel to celebrate Kalonzo’s African Dignitary Man of the Year Award.

He added: “When he won, he wrote to say thank you and said that he won the by-election because of the donation. We have been friends ever since.”

The Ukambani political kingpin was feted by We Care for Humanity, a humanitarian organisation for the charity work he had undertaken through the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.

Kalonzo, who was then Foreign Affairs Minister, spearheaded the talks that saw the division of Sudan.

“The South Sudanese people will forever be grateful to Kalonzo for unchaining them from Arab colonialism,” said Cord leader Raila Odinga during dinner.

The former prime minister also appreciated the Musyoka for epitomizing the Kenyan Dream by helping the need as well as preaching peace in through his foundation.
