Controversial Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has again asked the State to arrest him if at all he has charges to answer to in court.
Babu in a video posted online by a local news site says he stopped being fearful reiterating his readiness to go to jail if that is what it means to fight for democratic space in the country."I always expect anything, that I can be arrested anytime," Babu said."Arresting me will not change me. You can arrest my body but you cannot arrest my mind. The ideas that I have will always be expressed and I will always fight for a course that I believe in. No amount of cell, no amount of intimidation will make me not to present what is in my mind, which is to fight for the rights of Kenyans," said Babu. The State is currently engaged in a massive clampdown on opposition leaders said to have championed the swearing-in of Raila on January 30 as the people's president.Among those in the arrest list are James Orengo (Siaya Senator), Johnston Muthama (former Senator Machakos), Hassan Joho (Governor Mombasa) and MPs Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), Babu Owino, Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay woman rep) and John Mbadi (Suba).Among those facing charges already in connection to Raila's inauguration are MPs George Aladwa (Makadara) and Tom Kajwang (Ruaraka). The State has also revoked the passports of ten NASA leaders.
