Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa has welcomed the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Kimani lauded the former Prime Minister for resolving to work with the President saying it was a great move in uniting Kenyans following last year's divisive elections.
"I must admit that I don't like Raila for the problems he has brought to this country. But that said and done, I must commend him for burying his differences with Uhuru for the sake of Kenyans," he said.
Speaking on Sunday during Inooro TV's 'Kiririmbi' show, Ichung'wa warned the opposition leader against using the newfound unity with the Head of State to push his personal agenda.
He claimed the recent calls by the opposition to change the constitution to expand the executive and create a three-tier government was a plot for Raila and his allies to get to power.
"For us in Jubilee we are clear that we want to work for the good of all Kenyans. If Raila is focused on politics, Uhuru and Ruto are on another tangent," he said.
Ichung'wa, who also heads National Assembly Budget Committee, further drummed support for Deputy President William Ruto 2022 presidential bid, claiming Mt Kenya region would rally behind him.
"We have started laying the groundwork, we are focused and committed in ensuring Ruto clinches power," the legislator added.
