Mercy Mokeira, Miss World Kenya Nyamira County 2016, believes her online critics have strengthened her to win more crowns after recently beating her competitors to bag the Female Models of the Year, Pwani awards.
The Nyamira born model has been a subject of criticism from social media users from the county who accuse her of ‘warming’ beds of senior politicians.
But in an exclusive interview with tis writer, Mokeira slammed her critics labeling them propagandist and insisted that their criticism had powered her to win more awards.
“Criticism is part of life especially when you’re a public figure. It keeps me going and strengthens my personality. Whether positive or negative, I get encouraged to do more and get honors around the world,” she said.
“I have never used my position to get favours from politicians. Those are propagandists who are out to taint my name but I thank them because they encourage me to do more and at least get somewhere,” she added.
Mokeira who recently sat on the Judges Bench in Tanzania alongside Miss World Tanzania Wema Sepetu during the Miss Iringa 2016 beauty contest, urged young ladies to venture into modelling to sustain their lives.
“Beauty contest is a job. If you have the talent, just go for it because you may not know your luck. Don’t be discouraged by critics because that is part of life,” Mokeira added.
