Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong says he never earned a salary when he was Raila’s aide.

“I did not earn a salary as Raila’s PA! We were friends and don’t forget he was also struggling. We were just a group of volunteers who shared the little that was available. There was no salary, bwana. Where was the money to pay people?” he said during an interview with sde.co.ke

Ojaamong also weighed in on the chances of Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba retaining his parliamentary seat come August.

The governor said Namwamba will not win in the elections because he turned against Opposition leader Raila, who brought him to politics.

“It is Raila who brought him to politics, made him an MP and minister when some of us who struggled with him (Raila) for many years did not land such opportunities. Now, he has turned against Raila. He is cursed!” he said.

The Busia County boss said he will campaign against Ababu’s candidature to ensure he loses.

“In fact, I am going to use everything at my disposal to ensure that he is defeated in the August polls. I am soon going to pitch tent in Budalang’i with the sole purpose of ensuring he is not re-elected. He is a cursed guy and does not have a future in politics,” Ojaamong was quoted by sde.co.ke on Friday.

Ababu decamped from Raila’s ODM to the Labour Party of Kenya.

He has announced support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

He recently lashed out at opposition leaders for criticising government projects.

"I condemn people fond of criticising every good thing that happens in this country," he said on Saturday.
