Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has reaffirmed his support for the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta, despite constant criticism from a section of Opposition coalition NASA leaders.
Speaking in Busia, the lawmaker said that he has a democratic right of supporting whoever he wishes without coercion, adding that he had resolved to back Jubilee because it is "development conscious."
“These leaders come here to insult local leaders who are not supporting NASA . I want to tell them that leaders are at liberty to support whoever they want. There are no leaders who are more Luhya than others, Eugene Wamalwa, Ken Lusaka and I are supporting Jubilee because of President Kenyatta’s development record,” the lawmaker said.
“If you have been afraid to openly support the government I am telling you to chart your own political path because I will personally lead the team campaigning the ruling coalition," he added.
The Labour Party leader was once an ardent supporter of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga before withdrawing his membership from ODM party where he served as the party's Secretary General.
